Just moved to Texas – Texas DPS question about drivers license?

Question by persian: Just moved to Texas – Texas DPS question about drivers license?
I moved to Texas a few months ago so i need to get my California license replaced with a Texas license. Unfortunately, someone stole my wallet within a week or two of me moving to Texas, taking my California license with them. So after much research and effort i learned the only way to get a replacement of my california license would be to actually go back to the CA DMV. So instead I had the CA DMV just send me my “driving record” and the Texas DPS said this would suffice to prove that I had a license. This process took about 3-4 weeks. So then i went to the DPS, waited in line, only to be sent away because as my “ID” i had a copy of my birth certificate, but they said they needed my REAL birth certificate. So i went home, and applied to order one from the city i was born in. After 6 weeks they finally send it to me. At this point, i have lived in texas much longer than 90 days. And according to the DMV website, if you’ve been here for more than 90 days the process of getting your license is much much more difficult and time consuming.

My question is….can i tell a little white lie and say I’ve only been here for a month next time i go to the DMV? I mean…do they have a way of telling how long its been since i moved here?

And please i do not want to hear “its not moral” blah blah blah. I work everyday of the week and go to school full time, i don’t have time to go through a lengthy process of getting my Texas License. So if someone could tell me if there is a way for the DMV to tell how long you’ve been in the state for thatd be great!

I live in Texas and you can tell them whatever you what but if any of the prior information has been placed into the computers then they will be able to see each and every time that you have been to the Texas DMV..

Truck Drivers: Getting started in the 18 wheeler field?

Question by B D: Truck Drivers: Getting started in the 18 wheeler field?
I know nothing about it except that I need to obtain my CDL. I’m located in N.W. Georgia. What is the best option for obtaining my CDL? I’ve heard that there are companies that will pay for CDL school. Is this entirely true? How can I make the most money starting out? I am interested in cross-country driving (I have no family to worry about), any particualr company you would recommend? What’s the best advice you can offer a new driver? Also, when companies require a “clean driving record”, do they mean you have to have a perfect driving record (no tickets, accidents) on your regular driving history (passenger cars)? Thanks for your trouble.

best way is an accredited school/you pay and get cdl/then look for job/some opportunities out there but they want some proof of you being a responsible driver/person/they are not going to hire somebody with no experience and then give them a 250 grand rig and say go for it/with cdl you have a good chance/

Q&A: Insurance questions?

Question by KP: Insurance questions?
If I do not have neither a permit nor a driver’s license, and I got one point on my “driving record”, (the court says “ONLY” my premiums will go up), how will my parents insurance find out if I don’t even have a license? I was also driving someone else’s car. I paid the bail. Also, my father’s insurance (USAA) sent mail and said they would call within two weeks to confirm either something about information and the auto policy. I could not read the whole thing. I am afraid that his insurance found out already, when I heard that insurance companies don’t find out about these tickets/points every few months. Please provide me with as much (true) information you have. Especially the situation where I don’t know how the insurance company would find out about my one point if I don’t have a driver’s license.

Best answer:

Answer by sarah c
if you parents add on a car or a driver they will run your parents driving record and you and your point will most likely come up in the household, its possible that sometimes it wont…but 90% of the time it does.BUT the points will usually be charged to you and your premium on the car that you are drving, seeing that your not legally allowed to drive yet. i would imagine that it wont impact your premium untill your on the policy, also i wanted to ask.. what did the judge say the point would apply to, example, speeding violation, moving violation, or something other then that? the reason i ask is because insurance companies only charge for speeding and accidents, or any other moving violations. normally we do not charge for drving without a license.

Busha-Okeson Insurance Highlights the Safest Vehicles for Drivers with Ohio Auto Insurance

Busha-Okeson Insurance Highlights the Safest Vehicles for Drivers with Ohio Auto Insurance

Beachwood, Ohio (PRWEB) October 02, 2011

Insurance agencies have highlighted the fact that August has been declared the deadliest month for U.S. drivers, but the team at Busha-Okeson Insurance wants to offer a solution – or 10 – to the issue of on-road safety. Everyone knows that they can protect their vehicles by obtaining a proper Ohio auto insurance policy, but can their vehicles protect them?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently used data based on how likely a driver of a specific car model was to die in a crash between 2006 and 2009 to uncover the top 10 safest cars to drive. These include:

The Honda CR-V was the only small SUV on the top 10 list.

Acura MDX, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Edge were the three midsize SUVs with 11 or fewer fatalities per one million models purchased.

As for large SUVs, the Land Rover LR3, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Nissan Armada had the lowest death rate for drivers.

Toyota Sienna represented minivans as one of the top-rated safe vehicles.

The Audi A-6 four door and Mercedes E-class four door were the only sedans that competed with SUVs and other spacious models for spots in the top 10. They are both considered to be large luxury cars.

Purchasing a car with high safety ratings can not only help people protect themselves and their loves ones, but may also save them money on their Ohio auto insurance. Drivers who have good driving records and those who live in areas with a low risk of traffic accidents can typically find discounts on their Ohio motorcycle insurance or auto coverage plans. The dedicated agents at Busha-Okeson Insurance are always looking for the most comprehensive and affordable plans for their clients.

About Busha-Okeson Insurance:

Corra Group Increases Employment Screening Services to Headhunters and Staffing Agencies

Corra Group Increases Employment Screening Services to Headhunters and Staffing Agencies

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 04, 2011

Corra Group has expanded its efforts to assist headhunters with their employment screening efforts now that employers are tasking them with background checks. Increasingly, clients are passing onto staffing services responsibility for background checking in the final stages of the recruiting process.

“This is a new trend in recruiting and staffing,” noted Gordon Basichis, Co-Founder of Corra Group. “It used to be employers conducted any background checks as well as aptitude and psychological testing. But now more employers are shifting responsibility to the headhunters.”

“Often this is a matter of convenience,” said Basichis. “The employer is pressed for time and short on staff and wants the new employee vetted for any history of criminal and civil records as well as any discrepancies in education and employment claims. Some headhunters are able to invoice their client for the background checks. Some employers are compelling headhunters to absorb the cost as part of the placement commission. It’s a change in the paradigm.”

Corra Group has developed special employment screening packages for executive headhunters. The Corner Office and Fast Track Packages are designed as comprehensive background checks for middle managers and senior executives. These packages review federal and county civil and criminal records, education and employment verification. They include Motor Vehicle Driving Records (MVRs).

“Recruiters should use some caution when regarding a candidate’s background,” said Nick Gustavson, Corra Group Co-Founder. “We find more candidates are fibbing on their resumes. We see an increased number of bogus college diploma claims and holes in employment history.

“Candidates will say they graduated from a certain university and we find that they were only there for a couple of years,” said Gustavson. Or they claim a significant position with a major company, and we found nothing to verify that they ever even worked there.”

Corra Group encourages headhunters to ask any questions to determine which employment screening package will fulfill their client’s requirements. Headhunters and recruiters are always free to ask for help with intepreting the finished background report.

BACKGROUND: Corra Group specializes in employment screening and corporate research and investigation. It offers the full range of background checks and business research to industries throughout the United States and around the world.

4SafeDrivers.com Offers Individual Driving Records to Texas Residents

4SafeDrivers.com Offers Individual Driving Records to Texas Residents

Cartersville, Georgia (PRWEB) October 13, 2011

There was a time when trucking and transportation companies were unique in requiring potential employees to furnish their TX driving records, but this practice is becoming increasingly common in a variety of industries, including any kind of outside sales organization. Driving records have become a new standard for gauging employee responsibility, as well as for assessing potential insurance liability. For this reason, many job applicants walk into interviews and are blindsided by questions about their driving records—but a company called 4SafeDrivers.com is working to change that. A nationwide company that provides individuals with a way to obtain their driving record in advance, 4SafeDrivers.com has recently extended its services into the State of Texas.

According to 4SafeDrivers.com president Jeffrey Kellner, looking at a driving record in advance is a great way to be prepared for a job interview. “Many employers are developing the habit of addressing driving records, and it’s important to go into the interview prepared to discuss that topic,” says Kellner. “Furthermore, knowing what a driving record says can offer the chance to make necessary adjustments.”

Indeed, 4SafeDrivers.com is not only in the business of providing Texas residents with driving records, but also with solutions for ensuring that any driving record blemishes don’t prevent future employment. The site offers information about local defensive driving classes, completion of which can often lead to those blemishes being blotted out. Additionally, 4SafeDrivers.com provides users with quick access to competitive auto insurance rates.

Kellner says that the 4SafeDrivers.com individual driving records service provides convenience and affordability that going through the state Department of Motor Vehicles simply cannot match. “An individual can obtain a driving record directly from the state,” notes Kellner, “but doing so involves lengthy waits, much hassle, and numerous fees. 4SafeDrivers.com offers these same records, but makes them much easier to obtain.”

4SafeDrivers.com extends its services not only to individuals but also to employers. With the extension of its services into the State of Texas, the company is truly nationwide. Kellner says the growing demand for driving records is ultimately a positive thing, especially for those who take the time to obtain their own records. “Information is the key to success. 4SafeDrivers.com exists to help individuals have better information, and thus be better prepared to succeed.”

ABOUT:

4SafeDrivers.com is a premium site for employers and hiring managers to obtain pertinent background records about prospective employees, as well as to check their own files and records with a minimum of hurdles and fees. The site also offers resources for individuals seeking to know what their driving records say and how they can still obtain reasonable insurance rates.

An essential tool for employers in virtually any field, 4SafeDrivers.com can be reached at http://www.4SafeDrivers.com, or e-mailed at customerservices(at)4SafeDrivers(dot)com.

Uncovering the Truth About Accident Forgiveness

Uncovering the Truth About Accident Forgiveness

(PRWEB) October 13, 2011

As the weather turns, the chances of a car accident due to inclement weather start to increase drastically. As such, it’s important for consumers to protect themselves from the insurance rate consequences of an at-fault accident. Accident forgiveness, the latest trend in automobile insurance, certainly draws drivers in. Good drivers who are involved in their first accident can be very frustrated by the increase in rates that results. After paying on insurance premiums for so long, seeing an increase for one accident leaves drivers feeling cheated. Insurance companies introduced accident forgiveness to combat this – but does it fully protect from rate increases? InsuranceHotline.com wants consumers to know before buying.

How Accident Forgiveness Works

Accident forgiveness is a very simple concept. Normally when a driver is involved in accident and is determine to have been at fault, they are responsible and therefore have an increase in rates. This is because having had one accident, they are considered a higher risk for the insurance company and also to make up some of what the insurance company has had to pay out on the claim.

With accident forgiveness, a driver can have one at-fault accident – their first – and not see a rate increase as a result and keep their lower rate. This is the insurance company’s way of acknowledging that even good drivers can make the occasional mistake. It also acknowledges that previously paid premiums can count towards covering the claim payment. Offering accident forgiveness makes the insured feel valued and less likely to jump ship for another company, so it benefits the company as well. But there are some details about the feature that every driver should know.

Accident Forgiveness Has Limitations

If a driver chooses to shop their rate and move to a new insurance company, forgiveness for an accident will not come along. Thus the new insurance company can and likely will charge for the accident on the new policy. This fact is what keeps the current insurance company confident that they will keep customers. Of course, there is nothing wrong with staying with the insurance company that is not charging for an accident, but should a driver want or need to change for other reasons, this might come as a surprise.

It is commonly believed that the accident will not result in an increase no matter what the situation, but this is not true. Every insurance company has limits on how they choose to apply the feature and in what situation it applies and does not apply. It is important to read all the fine print and get all the details before buying a policy to obtain accident forgiveness.

In some cases a driver must be with the same company for a certain amount of time before the accident forgiveness goes into effect. There may also be limitations on how long the driver must maintain a good driving record before accident forgiveness will apply. Every insurance company makes their own rules in relation to accident forgiveness and it is up to the consumer to find out what they are.

“Accident forgiveness can be very beneficial to drivers,” says Tammy Ezer of InsuranceHotline.com, “but many are surprised by limitations because they weren’t informed. Every driver should know the limitations of his or her policy.”

Other Features to Consider

While accident forgiveness has been getting plenty of attention as the latest feature to be added to insurance policies, there is another feature drivers of new cars should think about. Waiver of depreciation is a feature many drivers are not aware of until it is too late, but it is a feature that is very useful when needed. Simply put, it allows drivers of new cars to receive a settlement equal to the purchase price of the new car rather than to the depreciated value.

Many drivers are shocked to discover they will not be able to replace their new car with another new car when it is a total write-off. With waiver of depreciation, a car purchased in the last year, sometimes two years, will be replaced with a brand new car. When choosing important features while shopping for auto insurance, do not leave this one out!
