Neighborhood Raleigh Criminal Attorney and Raleigh DWI Lawyer M. Moseley Matheson had the honor of forming one of the Mentor Attorneys on the Capital Location Teen Court’s Mock Testing Team. Mr. Matheson took a trip by having the group to Wilmington, North Carolina the weekend of March 16-18 for the North Carolina Teen Court Mock Testing State Competitors. Right here, the Capital Area Teenager Court Mock Testing Group were pitted against other Teen Court groups from additional counties in North Carolina in the State Competitors.
This competition pits adolescent ‘attorneys’ in a Mock or ‘pretend’ trial where all participants are played by teens, with the exception of the Judge and Jury. The Judge and Jury are composed of certified North Carolina Attorneys and/or Judges. The Mock Trial Judges deal with all procedural concerns with the Mock Trials and the Jury members score the groups on various spots of the instance. In this year’s competitors, the circumstances circled the fee of injury to individual property and the teen lawyer competitors prepared to either defend the teen defendant, or prosecute them.
Prior to the competitors, the youth attorneys on the Capital Location Teen Court Mock Trial Team spent lots of hrs working on their Hole Statement, Direct Examination, Cross Examination and Closing Arguments. In addition, all of the Capital Location Teen Court opponents spent many long nights engaging in by having Mr. Matheson and the other Coach Attorneys in preparation for the Mock Trial Competition. These Practices had the youth attorneys run through their entire testing, where different concepts on their methods were discovered, in addition to anticipating and practicing numerous objections. Through their efforts, these teen attorneys were as prepared, if not much better ready, for some engaging in lawyers in North Carolina.
For all of their hard work, the Capital Location Teen Court Mock Testing Group positioned next in the State. In addition, one of the Prosecuting Attorneys on the group was voted finest Prosecutor for the competition.
