SnapStream Media Unveils the World?s Largest Digital Video Recorder (DVR)

SnapStream Media Unveils the World’s Largest Digital Video Recorder (DVR)

Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 12, 2010

At the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, SnapStream unveils its latest creation – the world’s largest digital video recorder (DVR) and TV search engine. SnapStream’s DVR, the world’s largest, is a showcase of the company’s next generation TV technology.

SnapStream built the world’s largest DVR-search engine with the capacity to record 50 channels simultaneously and store approximately 13 years of traditional television (TV) content. Fully-equipped, this hybrid device not only enables organizations to house tons of digital recordings, but also to search within those recordings by keyword using SnapStream’s powerful TV search technology.

This massive DVR combines five individual SnapStream’s Servers, which can each record 10 channels of analog television and store nearly 17,000 hours of recordings. With SnapStream’s fifth generation TV recording and search software, all of these TV tuners and storage act as one unified DVR – making it possible to store as much TV content as 326 TiVo Premiere units. Read more about it on our blog: http://bit.ly/SnapStreamBlog.

“With this new version of the SnapStream software, customers can ‘cluster’ individual SnapStream Servers together,” said Rakesh Agrawal, founder and CEO of SnapStream Media. “SnapStream’s enhanced platform will enable our customers to record more television and store it for longer – while retaining the ability to search all of these recordings from a single interface with SnapStream’s simple user interface.”

With this unveiling at NAB, SnapStream is also launching a contest to name the world’s largest DVR. For its latest project, the company is seeking the creativity of anyone who is interested in entering. SnapStream will judge the best name and the selected winner will be awarded a free Apple iPad. Participants can submit their entries online at http://www.snapstream.com/enterprise/nameOurDVR.asp or live at the NAB Show in the SnapStream booth (SU#2707).

“This 50-channel DVR, the world’s largest TV recording and search device, is just a way for us to showcase the power of SnapStream’s software. We put searchable television at your fingertips, so you can never miss a beat in politics, pop culture or breaking news,” said Agrawal.
