Montreal has the dubious reputation as being a hub for movie piracy. A 25-year-old Montrealer the RCMP calls a “major player” was due in court Wednesday to face a fine and possibly jail time. However, Geremi Adam failed to show up, so a warrant for his arrest was issued. Meanwhile, a number of Adam supporters staged a rowdy protest outside the courthouse Wednesday morning. They view the criminal charges as a badge of honour, saying that movies and other entertainment products should be distributed for free.

There is alot of jobs that are harder than being an actor, so give less to the actors and more to the people behind the camera…………….

Xronex… I work in the film business and I’m a bottom of the ladder grunt who works 18 hour days with brutal schedules to make ends meet. And when there is nothing shooting, I’m out of work. All freelance, gig to gig. Using “rich Hollywood” as an excuse to steal intellectual property (movies) is no different that being okay with stealing cars because the CEOs of automotive giants earn hundreds of millions. Stars+Studio Execs = less than 1% of the filmmaking workforce.
The only people making money off all of this is the corporation that yes ironically, pay these people to do such films. But they make MORE than enough money, internet piracy is but a dent in their figures when considering how much money they make… it’s really ridiculous.
Changes, yes but laws aren’t going to affect anything, you push onto society and society pushes back. They’ll have to find a way to work with the public and not against them.
Bands only make a minute amount of money from sales, most of the money they make come from touring and from selling merch.
Actors and Directors get paid no matter what and their job security isn’t based on box office revenue but rather on popularity and awards. If they want some money from the sales they have to invest their own money in the production process.
@xronex but they spend their money on charity like 1000$ donation …yeah like recieving millions for acting and stuff…just like footballers thye pay them 9 million euros per year…i mean WTF just for them to buy sports cars and smash them into walls

If artist want get money…I think they already earn it…they already earn lots of money and cant even finish it untill they die if they living like average people…so why dont just give some of their work for free to someone who know how to find it like aXXo…
If all things in this world were free no one would do anything. Why bother? But you don’t seem to understand that writing music/movies takes a long time and hard work! They do it for a job. If you consider the industry as both the creators and the downloaders, the downloaders outweigh the creators a million to one. Minority my ass!
