Q&A: Need to know your take – D.O.T. drunk driving ad on TV – driver is in car full of beer/wine/martini – HUNH???
Question by bicpenitentary : Need to know your take – D.O.T. drunk driving ad on TV – driver is in car full of beer/wine/martini – HUNH??? Public Service spot w/ 3 males at different times, each driving a car, but each in a car full of 1) beer, 2) martinis, and 3) wine [looks like wine or blood
Each is stopped by officer for supposedly DUI. Each driver’s side door opens and ALL this liquid comes splashing out!!! Their message is “Don’t Drive Drunk” but I JUST DON’T get the significance of the sloshing drink in each guy’s car. If you’ve seen it, do YOU get it? Can you explain it to an old country boy like me? I just seen it for the third time and, really, I don’t get it. Is is supposed to show that the SMELL is that prevelent? Or the driver URINATES while driving and that is indicative of DUI?? And why all three gotta be young men? Do stats back that up? Good thing there were 2 caucs and one black – equal DUI is what I say. At any rate, keep an eye out for that public service spot airing here in the U.S. late at night and you be the judge. You may say HUNH? too…

Let it go, it’s a freakin’ commercial. By the way, most DUI offenders are young males!

If it makes you feel any better, I was dumbfounded when I saw them too. I didn’t get it and I still don’t. I think they were trying to show how much those guys drank or something. Anyway it is stupid, I agree.
