Death Tolls Climb Across Sacramento from Car Accidents

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) fatalities from car accidents in Sacramento are constantly rising. The same trend extends across the entire country.
Until 2005, car accident deaths were declining. Between 2008 and 2010, Sacramento County experienced a 30 percent increase in deaths resulting from automobile accidents. The data provided by the NHTSA for 2011 shows a nationwide increase of more than 13 percent in vehicle crash fatalities, and a three percent for California.
Experts believe that the death increase may be tied to the economy. When fewer people are working, fewer people are driving on the roads; this may lead to a statistical decline in car accidents. Naturally, when people return to the roadways, fatal automobile accidents rise.
The California Highway Patrol reports that despite of the effort to educate the public, many people still do not wear seat belts.
The increase may be connected to aggressive or drunk driving. Percentage-wise, these numbers seem to be similar, although National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations analyses of initial data are still pending.
