Say the person just had a bad night..etc. The persons not a danger to society. What’s the purpose ? Who’s really the bad ones here in this situation…prosecutors,judges,etc??? Best answer:

How so u know that they wont do it again? What if they have an other “bad night”? They should be punished so they know not to do it again.
If a kid steals the toys from an other kid, and doesnt get punished, he assumes its not wrong to steal and does it again.
