For the fourth consecutive year, Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) has partnered with Habitat for Humanity DeKalb County to make a difference in the local community all part of the online schools 2012 Graduation Week activities. The graduation ceremony takes place tomorrow at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta, GA.

This year more than 20 Ashworth employee and student volunteers spent the day working on a variety of repair, cosmetic, and landscaping projects in the Belvedere Park neighborhood of Decatur, GA — all part of Habitats A Brush with Kindness. A Brush with Kindness is an extension of the wider known home building initiative, and enables Habitat to service more families and increase opportunities for volunteers and sponsors.

Ashworth is committed to the communities in which we work and live, said Rob Klapper, Ashworth College President and CEO. We are proud to continue our standing relationship with Habitat for Humanity and always look forward to helping hard working families make improvements in their lives. Ashworth was the first online school to sponsor a student campus chapter.

To further its commitment to improving lives, Klapper was joined by 2012 keynote speaker Mark Greenwald, Executive Director of US Speedskating, and presented a full-ride Ashworth College scholarship to a Belvedere Park Habitat for Humanity resident. Janice Cotton accepted the scholarship on behalf of her daughter, Teaairea Lewis, who was unable to attend. Lewis plans to enroll in Ashworths online Health Care Administration associate degree program.

Leading up to the build, the Campus Chapter sponsored several fundraising initiatives to raise donations for Habitat. Habitat will use the money to offset material costs associated with the various repair projects.

Ashworth College is a long been a supporter of social causes including Childrens Miracle Network, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Atlanta Ronald McDonald Charities, the American Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross.

The degree program of organizational leadership will provide me with the tools to lead effectively while supporting our organizational mission and goals.

She added that she does have other plans for the CSU degree: I also have a long-range goal of teaching after retirement from the hospital, which is something that would stay completely out of reach if I did not myself possess a degree.

With her drive, enthusiasm and determination, it appears Zyzik will succeed at her present job and beyond with her CSU degree.
