Should I be worried about not being allowed to put a lease on public record?

Question by TwinkleBean: Should I be worried about not being allowed to put a lease on public record?
I’m signing a new lease and one of the terms is: “Lessee shall not record this Agreement on the Public Records” What’s the Purpose of this and the significance. Is it something I should worry about?? I’ve never seen this before and I’m curious as to what it means. Thanks!
I can’t see any reason to put it on public record and have no intention of doing so. I understand it’s a legal document and usually make a couple copies to keep in my house, in my safe deposit box, and one at my parents (i am always triple safe with these things) I just was reading through the lease and it caught my attention and I found it odd. I’ve never seen it on a lease before and was curious.

I’m not sure why you would want to have it recorded in Public Records. Having an executed lease in your hand is proof enough of your rights as a tenant.

You can record anything on Public Records, basically it protects your rights to use the property. There’s really no need that I know of to do it, though.

Q&A: What to do if the IRS puts an erroneous lien on your credit report?

by BARMCD

Question by : What to do if the IRS puts an erroneous lien on your credit report?
I have a situation where the IRS made an error and put a lien on my credit report that should not have ever happened. The error itself with the IRS has since been corrected (they sent me a letter of removal of lien and also acknowledged their mistake) but the lien that they originally put on is still sitting right on my credit report under “public records” and is causing me harm when I try and get credit. Is there any way that I can get this thing off of my credit report? The worst part is that none of this was even my fault.

Best answer:

Answer by Judy
Have you tried making a copy of that letter and mailing it in to the credit reporting bureau?
Do this with a short dispute letter attached
Keep it short and simple – long sentences confuse those bureau workers.

How long is a copyright good for? If renewed, how long again? When does a song become “Public Domain”?Talking

Question by cindy_cee13: How long is a copyright good for? If renewed, how long again? When does a song become “Public Domain”?Talking
Talking about music. Like a song. Elvis Presley recorded “Love Me Tender” to the tune of “Aura Lee”, which is in public domain. Therefore, although, “Love Me Tender” may be copyrighted, the tune is not. So, when would the copyright on the words to “Love Me Tender” become public domain?

Best answer:

Answer by Snow Bunny
70 years to works created prior to 1978

95 – 120 years thereafter depending on when it was created or published.

Yeah, me too. I mean, Green Day’s on this list. They’re not even hard rock! I hate VH1’s lists.

What do you think? Answer below!

do you think religious moderates enable religious extremists?

Question by ambientdiscord: do you think religious moderates enable religious extremists?
personally ive never had a problem with religious moderates because i have the libertarian point of view to just let people believe what they want to believe because they arent hurting anybody.

i just watched an hour long talk by Sam Harris (link to follow) a philosopher, speaking about the problems religion causes in general because it eliminates our ability to talk. the enabling effect of religious moderates may not warrant “just leaving them alone” anymore because religion is allowing us as a society to compartmentalize rational thought with irrational belief thereby destroying any chance we have at civil debates and when there is no option to debate then the only answer is violence to change someone’s mind.

please watch the video if you want to comment! the whole idea seemed very interesting to me. atheists tend to ignore religion for the most part because we hate being preached at but maby we need to stop enabling

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4slqVeJfvgo&mode=related&search=

i agree gypsy, but that doesnt look at the question :P i think all of us… well 99% agree that the religious extremists are bad, the ones that bomb and kill… but the point is that people that are just religious moderates… the ones that see how ridiculous religion is but still want a part of it to exist so they do not protest the shortcomings. that allows the crazy ones to hide behind thinking that “everyone is with me and my religion”

Name taken by cops- but then told to leave.?

Question by derventa: Name taken by cops- but then told to leave.?
I was out with two other friends smoking a blunt and all 3 of us had one Corona each (we’re 19). The cops pulled in saying there were complaints of people drinking and smoking. The cops then took our names and socials down(we didn’t provide our IDs.) They run a search on my friend, “Dispatcher, can you run a name on first party?” Dispatcher says “Party has no outstanding warrants.”

Then one of the cops then told us to pick up the three beers, empty them, and then dispose of them properly in the trash can. As we were doing this, they get another call on the radio, and they just tell us to leave and not to do it again.

what will happen here?
