What exactly were you doing to be considered “careless”? Speeding, running a red light/stop sign, etc, generally stay on your record for 39 months. Some more serious problems (i.e., drunk driving, etc) can take up to 10 years – depending on state – to come off, and some states leave them on there forever.

Unless what you were doing was completely negligent, I would guess that your ticket has since been removed. Go to the DMV & get a driving report….then you’ll know for sure — usually for about $ 15.

Long story short. I live in Sylvania, Ohio. I am gonna be 18 in 17 days. I was late for school and pulled over, given a ticket for 60 in a 40mph zone. there were no cars in front of me, three lane road, cloudy, cold, “moderate” traffic in oncoming lane. NEVER been in trouble before

Including court fees, ticket cost, and the cost of the class to get the points taken off my license will i have to pay? Should i plea no contest? Whats the best way to get off with the least penalties? Can i make payments on the fees or do i have to pay them all at once??… My dad thinks it wil be like $ 450, but my friend who has gotten a “20mph over ticket” says it should be less than $ 200..

States have different procedures and such, but atleast in California that is for the courts to decide rather then the officer. I have gotten three tickets in my life and have asked the officer each time how much it would be, and every time they told me “that is for the courts to decide.”

EDIT: In California, atleast, you have 30 days. I have no idea about Ohio.
