i am a 17 year old facing 2 DUI charges what penelties am i looking at?

I am a 17 year old in California and i am facing 1 wet and reckless charge and 1 DUI charge i got a month later. I am wondering what penalties i am facing. i have put my self voluntarily into a teen court program where i am doing 40 hours of community service, drug and alcohol classes, jury duty, and some other stuff. will this help me any in court?

It could help….and a judge may show lienency…but you can pretty-much kiss your license goodbye for a long time.

Teen court will not help with the DUI’s. You are facing mandatory jail time (Minimum of 48 hours consecutive), large fines, and at least a 12 month driving ban.

Your parents car insurance is also going to go through the roof, even for the time that you are banned, for as long as you live at the same address.

Firstly, you can’t do jury duty at 17… that is not going to help you. Drug and alcohol classes plus community service will help you if you have a good officer, though you will have to do A LOT more community service than that, involuntarily, of course. You will HAVE to serve jail time, how long depends on the situation and you will lose your license for at least a year. Good luck.

1 year without driving I believe about 1500 in fines. drug class and probation. Dont get caught again it aint pretty

It might help but I’m afraid you’ll be looking at the “Teen Retribution and Responsibilities Act of 2009″ where the punishment for such acts at an age below 21 is punishable by incarceration in a penal institute for a term no longer than 50 days and a trip into the back room where you will be held down having the cowboy sh!t slapped out of you for no more than 21 times for good measure…

Two charges that close together never looks good. You are doing the right thing by preemptively doing the classes. The more it looks like you are taking responsibility, the better it will look. What you are doing certainly can’t hurt.
